The Moment Time Stood Still

still waters

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

-Psalm 46:10-

Life is rapidly changing. This is a fact. Every year it’s different. Seems like it goes by more quicker. It really appears that time is running out. There is no coincidence that I am writing this tonight. For so long I have been feeling like I was constantly moving, yet stagnant. Like a hamster on a wheel. Never going anywhere. I had a fire n zealousness for God once. However, like many that burning fire turned into embers. They  barely had a flame. Why you may ask? I became more about work, work, work. I’m sure you guys can relate.

Years ago, I landed a great job working at one of the top companies in the world. Before that I was in retail for many years. I was a servant. I served in what I thought was a very dead end job. However God’s ways are so much GREATER than ours. Recently, He showed me this. Ever since transferring into 2020, there has been a shift. I did not know what that shift would include. God is showing me NOW.  For so long we have constantly been on the GO.  We have forgotten God’s Word. We have neglected time with Him. We no longer pray. We no longer put Him first. It has been all about us. So our hearts grew hard. We became far from God. We are ALL guilty of this. That’s when it all CHANGED!

 So it began. Earthquakes in various places. Our economy in turmoil. Plagues that continue to spread throughout the world. Our nation IS in crisis. Fear is ALL around. Don’t believe me?  Just go to your local grocery stores. Shelves are scarce. People are in gloves and masks. Everyone is frantic. However, among all of the ruckus there are humble servants. These are your retail workers. Your nurses. Your truck drivers who haul freight long hours. They risk their LIVES!  It’s in that moment time stood still. He reminded me of my purpose.  He reminded me of the meek servant of the retail worker I once was. He showed me where I began. He pressed the RESET button!

What I thought was a dead end job, actually was one of the most important. God reminded me of where it all started. He revived those embers in my heart. He couldn’t do that until He slowed me down. I believe that’s what He is doing now. God turns what the enemy means for harm into good. Even though we are in perilous times right now, choose to BE STILL and know He is God. Choose to take a moment and PAUSE. Reflect on His goodness. Listen to what He is trying to speak to you in this time. Let Him have your FULL focus. If our nation ever needed Him, it is NOW.
